Countdown to Election 2027
Participating in local elections is one of the most important ways residents can help shape the future of Hilliard. Whether you’re voting for City Council, school board members, local issues, or statewide offices, staying informed about election deadlines and voting options ensures your voice is heard.
The information below is provided as a helpful resource for Hilliard residents and voters. For official election information, voters should always verify details with the Franklin County Board of Elections and the Ohio Secretary of State.
2027 Primary Election
The next Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2027. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. If you are in line by 7:30 p.m., you are entitled to vote.
Local elections often have a direct impact on our community, influencing decisions related to public safety, parks, roads, development, city services, and local tax issues. Every vote matters, and voter participation helps ensure our local government reflects the priorities of the people it serves.
Voter Registration
To participate in the May 4, 2027 Primary Election, eligible voters must be registered no later than 30 days before Election Day. Ohio law requires voter registration to be completed before the registration deadline in order to vote in an upcoming election.
If you have recently moved, changed your name, or have not voted in several years, it is a good idea to verify your voter registration status before the deadline.
Early Voting
Ohio offers several convenient ways to vote before Election Day. Early in-person voting typically begins immediately after voter registration closes and allows voters to cast their ballot at their county Board of Elections before Election Day.
Voting early can be a convenient option for residents with busy schedules, travel plans, or other commitments that may make voting on Election Day difficult.
For current early voting schedules, locations, and hours, please visit the Franklin County Board of Elections.
Vote by Mail (Absentee Voting)
Any eligible Ohio voter may request an absentee ballot and vote by mail. Absentee voting provides a secure and convenient option for residents who prefer to vote from home or who may be unable to visit a polling location.
Voters are encouraged to submit absentee ballot requests as early as possible to ensure sufficient time for processing and mailing.
Every Vote Matters
Strong communities are built through civic engagement. Regardless of your political views or preferred candidates, participating in elections helps ensure that local government remains accountable to the residents it serves. I encourage every eligible resident to stay informed, register to vote, and make their voice heard at the ballot box.
